When to keep budgeting apps (YNAB, Monarch, Mint-style)
Keep a budgeting app if you want ready-made goals, bank connections that someone else maintains, a mobile app and support. The recipes here need you to set up a bank sync or maintain code that Claude wrote, and one is rated 2/5 for that reason.
- Claude categorizes raw bank transactions is not for: People wanting a guided budgeting app. Main drawback: Vendor-written source.
- Custom budget app built by Claude Code is not for: Most users. Main drawback: Maintenance burden.
